Биография

Andries Bezuidenhout is a South African songwriter and musician, poet, and visual artist who specialises in oil painting. His lyrics are mostly in Afrikaans. He has released four albums as a solo musician: “Insomniak se droomalmanak” (tr: Insomniac’s dream diary) in 2004, “Bleek berus” (tr: Bleak resignation) in 2008, “Onplaats” (tr: Unplace) in 2020, and "Spoorlangs" (Along the railway track) in 2021. Andries was also a member of the now disbanded Afrikaans rock band Brixton Moord en Roof Orkes (Brixton Murder and Robbery Band). This band has released three albums, “Spergebied” (2002), “Terug in Skubbe” (2005) and “Slaaptyd in die suburbs” (2014). Andries has performed at numerous South African music and poetry festivals, as well as in Mozambique, the Netherlands, and the UK. Some of his poems have been translated into English and Dutch. He lives in a small town called Alice in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province.
