Barnaba boy classic formally known as Elias Barnabas, was born in Moshi- Kilimanjaro Tanzania at the early 90’s. Being raised by a choir mistress mother Maria A. Aloyce and a Chaga guitarist/Pastor father Barnaba E. Lyakuru, made this chaga boy start his music expedition at the age of 8. As a first born in a musical and church Chaga family he has 2 siblings. Music genetics stream from his parents made Barnaba’s ego to be a big influential musician in Tanzania. The motive made him perform at various churches, streets and school concerts. Singing and concentrating in his favorite subject Swahili, made him know a lot about poetry and word arrangements which turned him to be a good writer today. Being a small kid street performer made some of his friends love his work. In 2006, Dickson, one of Barnaba’s friends who danced at THT was inspired by his voice and convinced him to join THT. Barnaba’s preeminent song writing skills made him a writer of great songs in the history like HAWAJUI- sang by VANESSA MDEE, LONELY- sang by LINAH, UPEPO and KIZUNGUZUNGU- sang by RACHEL, PROMISE- sang by SHAA, SIO KISA POMBE- sang by MWASITI plus ANAMALELE and CHUNA BUZI- sang by SHILOLE. This music beast has much collaboration with various artists like FULLY IPUPA, VANESSA MDEE, LINAH, PIPI and many other artists from Tanzania and East Africa in general.
