Биография
Hailing from the Northern Rivers and raised in Brisbane, Asha Jefferies is best known for her sombre, melancholy pop songs - combining the patience of folk with the urgency of youth. Her previous EP ‘The Pinnacle’ was a coming of age for the artist and songwriter; a culmination of soft glowing idiosyncratic sounds and classic folk arrangements, featuring single ‘Crybaby’ which was added to rotation across triple J, double J and triple J Unearthed. Her new single ‘Tank Tops’ was produced and mixed by Sam Cromack of Ball Park Music in his cosy studio Prawn Records in the inner north of Brisbane. The song was written in a time of tremendous change, discovery and love. Asha says of the song – “I could write what Tank Tops is about forever. It’s a song that means so many things to me - it’s personal, it’s about my identity but it also marks a distinct change in how I make music. A new producer in Sam Cromack, a new band collaborating and letting it be an intuitive process when it comes to recording - community has played a huge part in this story. Most of all, this song is incredibly personal. It’s a song about entering a new phase in my life and how my queer identity has taught me to love.” Touring with Noah Dillon on his album tour through August and September, as well as playing BIGSOUND, Asha Jefferies has previously shared the stage with Julia Jacklin, Lime Cordiale and City and Colour. She has played festival slots at Bluesfest, Woodford Folk and Mullum Music Festivals.
