If you were to describe 18-year-old sensation Nazzy the Mic with one word, none would be more on point than “pain.” The wise beyond her years storyteller narrates the “pain” of growing up in inner-city Philadelphia, her experiences with trauma and witnessing violence, the conflicts of her religion and sexuality, and more in her unique combination of catchy melodies and vulnerable self-aware punchlines. The lyricist, who identifies as a Gay and Muslim teen, paints pictures with her music that can only be illustrated by an artist whose work parallels their personal life; and all of the ups and downs that come between. Nazzy’s songwriting prowess and melodic flow isn’t something that happened overnight. She’s been in the studio since the age of 12 and released her debut label release at the age of 16. The performer has been in love with hip-hop music since the age of six and what started out as a hobby to entertain her family has grown into the rapper/singer a rising star to keep an eye out for. The talented teenage MC’s trajectory and catalog has been recognized in popular music publications like Elevator Mag, Wordplay, Notion, and many more.
