Crafting a resounding homage to the 1990s and the authentic noise of the Aussie rock scene, Special Features deliver an unapologetic barrage of raw, heavy, and intense alt-rock. Yet, amidst these sonic realms, the band span the extremes of the alternative rock sphere, embracing a more softer, evocative side. Their ability to seamlessly navigate contrasting musical territories adds a layer of intrigue and unpredictability for those seeking something beyond the confines of conventional genre boundaries. Crossing paths in highschool, and beginning their musical journey in early 2020, the trio comprises Zac leading with guitar and vocals, Jeremy on bass guitar and vocals, and Alex on drums. Their unique timbre has inspiration drawn from the likes of 1990's grunge icons Dinosaur Jr, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Nirvana, whilst more modern Australian artists such as Courtney Barnett, Julia Jacklin and Violent Soho also leave their imprint on shaping their distinctive sound.
