(Hartford, CT/Pittsfield, MA) - Shagohod started as a joke in 2013. Hometown buds and frequent musical collaborators Drew and Dave thought it’d be neat to drink 40s and play a particular PS2 game for 12 hours straight. They did that. Then, they formed Shagohod. It started as a single joke-song sent over webcam, then morphed into a couple of skeleton-tracks banged out in freeware guitar tablature. One thing led to another, and they somehow wrote and recorded a full length album: The Treading Behemoth. Shortly after, they picked up some bandmates with actual talent (Ben and Ryan), played a ton of shows (from 'basements' to 'bars that look an awful lot like a basement'), and regretted nothing. In December 2021, they released their second full-length album Tin, Gold, Lead & Blood, a 67 minute narrative concept album set in the American Old West. Because of course. The album centers around the empty promises offered by violence, and reflects on the pitfalls of retributive justice inside the uniquely brutal American romantic imagination.
