misty. consists of Conner Hartman, Dash Evett, and Henry Wilde. The group unofficially formed early on in high school, where bimonthly open-mic-nights attracted the three teens. The first song the group performed at this open-mic-night was Misty Mountains from The Hobbit. Henry and Conner, who met in a Geometry class, recruited Dash, whom both Henry and Conner knew from separate circumstances, to join in. The group spent months arranging and practicing the song, which showcased the large vocal ranges of the three. Later, on a summer getaway, the trio found a tunnel filled with natural reverb. Naturally, the young musicians filmed a rendition of their Misty Mountains arrangement on an iPhone. For the purpose of easily sharing the video with friends and family, Conner uploaded the video onto a freshly created YouTube channel: "misty.", a name derived from the first song the trio arranged and performed together. In a simple text, Conner notified the group: "put vid on youtube". Reaching 100 subscribers in September of 2020, the group continued to arrange and create new songs during the quarantine resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, and revisit past songs they had arranged outside of YouTube. By the early months of 2021, the group surpassed 40,000 subscribers, 4 million+ total views, and 200,000+ streams on streaming services. The group continues creating cover songs, but also releases original content like "Tell Me to Go", the most streamed song on misty.'s Spotify.
