Bigger Better Sun rose out of nowhere. Comfort Foods, the Long Island trio’s 2019 debut, entered the world like a best kept secret: cherished by those who knew, later astounding listeners who uncovered the mystery. While time has lowered the fog around the group — vocalist/keyboardist Connor Ramert (he/him), guitarist/drummer Billy Mannino (he/him), and bassist Anthony Stano (he/him) — it’s also transformed their resolve. No longer constrained to stubborn arrangements or suffocated by burnout, BBS 2.0 finds inspiration in cinematic set-pieces, electropop’s glass interiors, and shaping a record with organic songwriting focus rather than forcing art.
