Chelsea Dawn is a 4-piece Indie band based in Dumaguete, Philippines. Originally a solo act by vocalist and songwriter Chelsea Dawn, the band as it is currently formed came together officially in 2023 to perform live and tour off Chelsea’s previous solo releases, making their debut as a group at the Cebu leg of Loop’s 2023 Redux tour. The band now consists of MJ Litorja (guitars), Law Tanatan (drums), Abe Jun Esquibel (bass), and Chelsea Dawn herself. Forming the band was a no-brainer as Law and Abe were previously the session musicians Chelsea worked with for her debut EP “Cambiando” (2021). The band doesn’t label their music as any particular genre and prefers to freely explore a mix of styles from indie folk to jazz to alternative and blues. They take influence from various artists, ranging from Jacob Collier to Tash Sultana to OPM greats like Rico Blanco and Kitchie Nadal, but Chelsea mainly listened to John Mayer’s records growing up. In addition to performing live as much as they can, the band has also started working on new music as of June 2023.
