Montreal’s experimental-pop quartet Look Vibrant are a wonderpot of musical inventiveness and immediacy, boiling over with energy and steaming into bliss. After releasing two singles of pure noise music (Plateau and Sweater in the Lake), an EP of polished indie pop (Only Qualms), and their bombastic debut album, The Up Here Place, Look Vibrant have gone deeper and darker on their sophomore release Cherish Everything. The songs teeter on the brink, threatening to fall apart at your feet, while somehow remaining intact by a logic that is uniquely Look Vibrant. Cherish Everything is an impressionistic reinterpretation of the many passionate and wounded figures whose stories have left a mark on the song-writers as they’ve toured and travelled. The characters in these songs grapple with physical ailment, unshakeable guilt, and socio-political barriers - all enriched with surrealist imagery. Their words become transportative daydreams of phantom family members, schoolyard bullies, lazy doppelgangers and the grim reaper among other fantastical cameos. Recently Look Vibrant has performed alongside notable acts, including Anderson. Paak, Wild Nothing, Micachu and the Shapes, Alvvays, and Palm.
