Биография
The pseudonym of Cleveland, Ohio-born actor and songwriter Richard "Dick" Monda, Daddy Dewdrop is best known for his 1971 bubblegum novelty hit "Chick-A-Boom (Don't Ya Jes' Love It)." A former child actor, Monda was a prolific songwriter and producer during the 1960s and '70s, recording and releasing music under his own name (the Verve Records-issued Truth, Lies, Magic and Faith) and under his more recognizable nom de plume (1971's eponymous, Sunflower-issued Daddy Dewdrop). "Chick-A-Boom" was originally written for the U.S. cartoon television series Sabrina and the Groovy Ghoulies, for which Monda served as music producer. Deciding to do his own take on the song, Monda assembled a group of session musicians for the recording, which he called the Torrance Cookers. The single reached number nine in 1971 but subsequent releases under the Daddy Dewdrop name failed to find the same level of commercial success. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
