Eugene Marie is a new electro-pop duo from Brooklyn by way of Seattle and Portland. Lucy Marie Horton’s fiercely articulated vocals and Spencer Eugene Stewart’s found-soundscapes are described as “The perfect blend of Björk’s unconventional left field exuberance and Sylvan Esso’s odd-pop earworms” (Crack In The Road). Their debut self-titled EP combines dense pop harmonies, transcribed conversations, and unlikely synths (vacuum cleaners & screeching subways) for something “ambitious and genre-bending.” By gathering these seemingly mundane artifacts of life and putting them on a pedestal, Eugene Marie’s music creates a beautifully strange impression of Brooklyn and its people.
