Raised in Maryland by Trinidadian parents, Nafets grew up torn between his heritage and the American pop culture he found himself surrounded by. The result is an artist whose first musical love was Iron Maiden and whose record collection is made up of equal parts metal, soca, indie rock and hip-hop. His own music is just as eclectic, as he seamlessly switches from buttery hooks sung over jazzy chords to rapped vocals over gritty, chugging punk rock guitar. His last 3 EP's have seen the rising independent artist championed by The FADER, Complex, Beats 1, FACT, and The Line of Best Fit, all while landing sync placements with HBO, Apple, Netflix, Hulu, BET+ , and more. Nafets' upcoming project COOKIE EP, a indie-punk rock record filled with stories of his family and upbringing, is set to debut in October of 2023. It has been supported by a string of singles, including SALTWATER SKY, which was featured in the promotion for Key and Peele's animated film, Wendell and Wild, on Netflix.
