Биография

Rosemary Timothy Yuro was born into an Italian-American family in Chicago on August 4th, 1940. Yuro moved to Los Angeles as a child. Her mother paid for operatic training by celebrated voice-coach Lillian Goodman. By the late 50s, Yuro was singing in her family’s Italian restaurant Alvolturnos, one of the most popular music venues in the area. She was signed to Liberty Records in 1959, and recorded her most famous track, ‘Hurt’ in 1961. Produced by Clyde Otis, who had supervised many of Dinah Washington’s hits. Yuro’s searing white soul rendering entered the US Top 5 in 1961 (and also the R&amp;B Top 30) The follow-ups ‘I Apologize’ and ‘Smile’ (written by Charlie Chaplin) made less impact, but in 1962, another R&amp;B song ‘What’s A Matter Baby (Is It Hurting You)’ reached Number 12 on the Hot 100. Yuro had a hit with the country song ‘Make The World Go Away’ in 1963. Timi signed with Mercury Records in 1964, and recorded one album there. "The Amazing Timi Yuro" Produced by Quincy Jones, was her favorite album that she ever did. She recorded a string of singles for Mercury thru 1967, but they all went nowhere. She returned to Liberty in 1968 and went to London to record the cult album Something Bad On My Mind. Timi had much success in the early 80's in the Dutch Market, recording several albums. She died of cancer on March 30th, 2004. ~Mike Iannarelli (Executor of the Timi Yuro Estate, Owner of her master recordings)<br>
