Биография

One of the most important proponents of the rock-rural style, Zé Rodrix is the composer of "Casa no Campo," recorded with success by Elis Regina. He also participated in the historic III FMPB (TV Record's Festival of Brazilian Popular Music) accompanying Edu Lobo, the Quarteto Novo, and Marília Medalha on "Ponteio" (Edu Lobo/Capinam) with his group Momento-4 in 1967. From 1969 to 1971, Rodrix was a member of the Som Imaginário group that accompanied Milton Nascimento and Gal Costa. He also had success with his compositions "O Espigão" and "Corrida do Ouro," which became the themes of two TV Globo soap operas in 1973. Son of a bandmaster, Rodrix had solid musical training at the Conservatory of Rio de Janeiro, learning to play the piano, flute, accordion, saxophone, and trumpet. He became a professional at 19, when he formed the Momento-4 group, which recorded his first composition, "Glória." In 1971, his rock-rural "Casa no Campo" (with Tavito) became a huge hit in Elis Regina's recording, and Rodrix formed a trio with Sá e Guarabyra that was very important for the rock-rural style, launching the success of his "Hoje Ainda É Dia de Rock." In 1973, he departed for a solo career, recording Primeiro Acto. Nine years later, he joined the Joelho de Porco. In 1994, he teamed again with Sá e Guarabyra, participating in one of their LPs. Rodrix also wrote the book Diário de um Construtor do Templo in 1999. ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
