    Texas rapper Ted the Poet debuted his hyper-lyrical and wide-ranging style in his since-deleted 2019 mixtape, The Tragedy; the title referring to a 2015 incident in which he failed to save his friend from a tragic death. 
 This event in Ted the Poet’s life led to him rediscovering his love for music by forcing him to use songwriting and recording as a coping mechanism and means of artistic expression for his traumas and life experiences. 
 Now, Ted the Poet is experimenting with untapped territory as evident in his occasional, metal-inspired singles in which he incorporates the popular metal vocal technique of fry screaming.
