Биография

An in-demand producer/composer, the Jamaican-born/England-based Knox Brown has collaborated with artists like Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Emeli Sandé, and others. Brown first garnered attention around 2014 producing beats for artists like Wretch 32 and Jacob Banks. In 2016 he issued his debut solo EP, Searching, which showcased his laid-back, atmospheric sound. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Brown grew up in the town of Portmore. As Jamaica did not have compulsory music education, his first introduction to music came via playing toy pianos and xylophones at his home. His parents also encouraged Brown to perform mini-concerts, reciting poems during parties at their house. Around age 12, he moved to Birmingham, England with his parents. It was after moving that his interest in music deepened as he started taking music classes at school. In ninth grade, his mother bought him a Casio keyboard that had preprogrammed classic songs by Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, and others. Brown taught himself to play the songs by ear, motivated by a desire to impress girls in his music classes at school. He also became fascinated with rapping and creating beats around this time, and quickly moved from playing the Playstation game Music 2000 to experimenting with programming and recording software at his school studio. He continued pursuing music while at university, and eventually grabbed early opportunities crafting beats for artists like Wretch 32 and Jacob Banks. Those tracks caught the attention of Warner/Chappell Music president Jon Platt, who brought him to Los Angeles. Since then, he has split his time between working in England and the United States, composing and producing with such stars as Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, Jess Glynne, Emeli Sandé, Paloma Faith, and others. In 2016 he released his debut solo EP, Searching, which included the single "Harry's Code" and featured guest spots by Kojey Radical, Anderson .Paak, and BJ the Chicago Kid. ~ Matt Collar, Rovi
