Биография

Craig Bickhardt is a singer-songwriter of the old school- you’ll hear echoes of 60s folk revivalists Tom Rush, Gordon Lightfoot and Eric Andersen in his work along with the melodic grace of Paul Simon. His virtuosic guitar work interweaves folk, blues and ragtime influences. Craig's musical passion is a family inheritance. His father moonlighted as a big band saxophonist. At 14, Craig found an old guitar in the family attic and taught himself to play. Soon he was writing songs and performing at Philadelphia’s famed Main Point. By the mid-70s, Craig was a singer-guitarist with Wire and Wood, an eclectic country-rock quintet that won a fervent East Coast following. The band opened for Bruce Springsteen and Stephen Stills before relocating to L.A. to find a record deal. They attracted the interest of Bob Dylan’s manager Albert Grossman, who signed them to his Bearsville/October Records label. Unfortunately, Wire and Wood’s album wasn’t completed and the group called it quits. Craig was tapped to write and sing two songs for TENDER MERCIES, a country music-themed film starring Robert Duvall. This led to a lengthy residency in Nashville, where his songs were recorded by Ray Charles, B.B. King, Johnny Cash, Tony Rice and Alison Krauss. Craig released his first solo album, Easy Fires, in 2001. Returning to his Pennsylvania roots, he came into his own as a solo performer by combining a seasoned troubadour’s easy command of his art and a beginner’s passion to win over his audiences.
