Биография
Catastrophe & Cure have been at the top of their game for a decade now. Since the release of their debut album Like Crazy Doves – which earned them Austria's most recognised music prize, the FM4 Amadeus Award – in 2012, the band has been a fixture in the Austrian independent music scene. In 2015 Catastrophe & Cure broke new ground with their second album Undeniable/Irresistible, opening their indie rock aesthetic to electronic influences. Two years and numerous tours through Austria and Germany later, the band released the mini-LP Blank Spots and the single On the Internet. Renowned international music blog Indie Shuffle named the latter one of the best indie rock songs of 2017. With their 2020 album Somewhere Down the Line the quintet has rekindled its old love for guitar-driven songwriting, seemingly heading back to their roots, but nonetheless arriving at something completely different. While the last single Cracks in the Pavement (feat. Katrin Paucz) was an upbeat indie rock song with multi-layered and ambiguous lyrics typical of the band, their new single Not Me Not Now is probably the most direct piece of music the quintet has released so far. The song is a melancholic grunge ballad that will make the hearts of 90s alternative rock fans beat faster, characterised by strong contrasts, a powerful stop/start arrangement with heavy guitars and lyrics that are not afraid to admit vulnerability.
