Blending upbeat sounds from Latin, reggae, soca, and folk rock, John Welsh & Los Valientes are known for their energetic live shows that emphasize crowd participation, world rhythms and sing-along choruses. Performing in both English and Spanish the band has gained fans worldwide with their diverse sound and positive message. Frontman John Welsh attended university in Guatemala where he learned to speak fluent Spanish and was exposed to both popular and traditional Latin American music. In Vancouver’s dynamic music scene Welsh met Colombian musicians Daniela Carmona(vocals/dance) & Alan Ruiz Moreno(Colombian tiple) who shared a vision of reaching people of many cultures and languages through the power of music. With strong support from the Latin American community in Canada and abroad, the band has developed a loyal fanbase with their blend of danceable latin rhythms, catchy sing-along choruses and interactive performances. A favourite at festivals, theatres and community events, John Welsh & Los Valientes were 2018 WCMA nominees for “World Artist of the Year” and have toured from Northern BC to Mexico City. Their album "Vamonos Mi Chica" debuted at #2 on the iTunes Canada World Charts and produced two radio singles in Mexico with “Sayulita” and “Me Hace Sentir”. John Welsh & Los Valientes are hard at work on their next album which will be released in Spring of 2023.
