Alternative Rap artist Mayne delivers thought provoking lyrics constructive to the mindscape of the higher conscious listener with a dose of psychedelic mystic. Born in Mississippi, Mayne moved quite a bit – from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Indiana, Indianapolis before finally settling in Maryland and living in other neighboring towns outside D.C. now know to the majority as the D.M.V. Growing up Mayne loved listening to music from the Blues, Funk, R&B, Hip-hop and Rock, he always believed music was not given by the individual, but given by the soul or the energy that influenced that individual. Mayne stated “Looking back, the 90s was a magical time for music and to include in that magic was R&B, hip-hop & Alternative Rock. I always loved Alternative Rock because it shared poetry that aimed to share a plight, help, inform or just uplift. I believe that’s something that was stripped from Rap music causing the disorder within it and within the urban community now.” Although, different experiences lead Mayne to craft his music to have a spiritual connotation he strives to be lyrically responsible and balanced – while still speaking his truth. Listen close Mayne’s music is riddled with double meanings and metaphors throughout the songs, unraveling and revealing itself with each play. “Not to mention”, the artwork of his covers are visual windows to the lyrics bringing to life the artwork as the song plays.
