Биография

Hailing from Denver, the pinch-hitting metal act Vaux is comprised of Greg Daniels (guitar/keyboards), Joe McChan (drums), Ryder Robison (bass), Quentin Smith (vocals), Chris Sorensen (guitar), and Adam Tymn (guitar). The six-piece came together in 1997 under the Eiffel moniker, hammering out their own post-grunge angst from Tymn's basement. The 7" single To Write a Symphony was self-released a year later while the boys were still attending college; Eiffel self-financed West Coast gigs for the next two years until the indie imprint Undecided offered to release their first album. Audiblenarcotic appeared in 2000, making a mean impression at college radio. A spot on annual Vans Warped Tour followed that summer; however, legal reasons forced Eiffel to change their name to Vaux. The switch motivated the group, and Vaux shaped up an intoxicating punk-inspired presentation for their 2002 sophomore effort, On Life; Living. Alternative Press praised Vaux as one of the "100 Bands to Watch" the following spring upon the release of There Must Be Some Way to Stop Them. In 2004, the band reissued Audiblenarcotic and gained valuable exposure with shows on the tenth annual Warped Tour and opening select West Coast dates for Auf der Maur. The Plague Music EP appeared that September, Vaux's first release for Equal Vision. That year, the band signed to Atlantic's Lava imprint and began recording their third album, Beyond Virtue, Beyond Vice, which was scheduled to arrive in fall 2005 release. However, Vaux was dropped from the label before the album was released. The band got the rights to the album back in 2006, and finally released Beyond Virtue, Beyond Vice a year later on their own Vx label. They also appeared on the Warped Tour again to promote the album. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi
