Levee Wolf is a singer songwriter and visual artist based in San Francisco. His songwriting searches for vignettes of life, and attempts to turn those small glimpses of perceived human character into stories that convey relatable human emotion. His potent lyrics and storytelling serve as the foundation for his music. He is heavily influenced by the landscape of his upbringing in Northern California, along with the songs he was raised on. His father, a Kentucky native and old school blues enthusiast, showed him Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters while his mom showed him Prince and The Jackson 5, Dolly Parton and Bob Dylan. Every car ride and dinner cooked was a song being sung and thus began a musical career. In 2019, Levee helped record a project in Nashville with Golden Boy on which his song Mistaken For Granite is featured, and soon he began scheming on an album of his own. He moved to San Francisco, signed with the label Slow Down Sounds, and in 2022 he released his first project, titled “Tremble Some.” A collection of songs that deal with love, death, and being old fashioned in a tech driven world, they served as building blocks on the search for his own sound. During the pandemic he moved into a shuttered photo center the size of a Safeway with all the darkrooms and art space he could dream of. He wrote songs and made prints. The project that formed from this time is called “Rayko”, named after the former photo space, and will be released early this year.
