Биография
Best known for his work as keyboard player and producer with the hugely successful, Dire Straits and close working relationship with the band’s front man, Mark Knopfler, Guy Fletcher is a musician, composer, engineer and producer. Guy’s solo albums reflect a love of the whole recording process. Born in Kent on 24th May 1960, music was a way of life in the Fletcher household. Guy's Mum, Dad and Uncle had their own group The Cameos. Guy’s intro to recording was at the age of 4. In his early teens, he learned to play bass guitar and grasped the technical aspects of recording since his father, Ted, is a well known designer of studio equipment. Determinedly leaving school, aged 15, he was soon working as a runner with ATV music. A year later, a job came up at DJM Studios and Guy was soon recording and engineering. Guy’s first tour as a musician was with Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel in 1979. Guy then joined Roxy Music in 1981, an intro to world touring aged 21, later touring with Bryan Ferry. Guy met Mark Knopfler in 1983, his knowledge and musicality was what Mark needed for a collaboration on film soundtracks before joining Dire Straits and working on the Brothers In Arms album. Since then Guy has been involved in all of Mark's work. As a studio musician, he has worked with many artists. In 1989, Guy became one of the four The Notting Hillbillies and has recorded and produced all of Mark’s solo albums since. In 2018, Guy was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
