By the time Meet the Giant's eponymous debut album was released in 2018, the foundation for a follow-up had already been set. The years of turmoil soon to come, while hindering the completion of the project as planned, would also prove to be metamorphic. What was a handful of compositions became a cogitative collection of studies that outline and sometimes press into the swelling of the fresh wounds of global, communal, and personal trauma. The finished album, 'We Are Revolting', reveals an elemental, trial-burnished, if tender, facet of the band's lush and visceral sound. Since 2009, Meet the Giant has been the songwriting and recording outlet for scene veterans Mic Naranjo, Erin Cisney, and Lawrence Snell, who bonded over a common foundation of post-punk, alternative, and electronic influences. The results of their collaboration culminate in a synergetic movement of dark, atmospheric, and often emotionally charged narrative compositions. Meet the Giant’s first album (self-titled) was released after nearly a decade of collaboration and landed with enthusiastic acclaim. Tom Murphy of Queen City Sounds called the album “an emotional drive with a sophistication and delicacy of feeling that made the record eminently listenable,” and it was later ranked among Birdy Magazine’s top albums of 2018, alongside notable local and national releases.
