Hailing from Edinburgh, Billy started making music when he was as young as 12 years old and by 2018 had secured himself as one of the most innovative artists working within the country’s flourishing rap scene with his first project release Kill Billy which won him the 2019 IMA Award for best Scottish Album. Following this, Billy released a joint project titled Wish You Well in 2020 with close friend and fellow collaborator Joell a futuristic alternative trap EP filled with slick one-liners and intricate vocal melodies, which garnered them over a million plays on Spotify alone. During 2020-2021 Billy took some time to refine his sound working alongside Baygee and S-Type to create a three-part album titled “Rocket Boy”, a linear project venturing into Billy's mind, giving a raw and unfiltered take on his past. In his first single Poison taken from Rocket Boy 1/3, Billy delves into the substances he once used as a coping mechanism in a raw and honest exploration of self over a brash and uncompromising incendiary futuristic trap banger. Followed shortly by his second single Low / Angels a harsh and powerful trap beat with witty and melodic bars delivered alongside a slick flow reminiscent of early grime music, Low gradually veers off into angels, an ethereal, tripped-out self-reflection on Billy’s journey during 1/3.
