The actual beginning of Beech is hazy, not because there was no moment of origin but because it was an organic collaboration between two musicians from the South London area of Bromley. After playing in punk bands for years, singer and musician Josh Beech began recording and touring as a solo act. Josh first recorded with producer and engineer Oliver Som in 2010. Their work in the studio transitioned into dual writing sessions, and after Josh moved to LA in the fall of 2012 he invited Oliver to come out and work on more music. During one session, when the pair recorded their new single “Lovers,” an agreement was made that this collaboration should continue as its own project. "Lovers" peaked in the top 10 (3) in the pop charts of 3 countries in 2013. After signing a major record deal with Universal Music, releasing a full length top 40 album "Letters written in the Sky" (2014) and touring in Europe (including a London headline show at KoKo) Oli & Josh decided that Beech had taken a different musical direction than initially intended and they would both work on solo material & separate music projects for the foreseeable future. Josh is currently still writing as a solo artist performing under his full name Josh Beech and Oli is currently writing and producing for other artists. The pair remain close friends and still write together on occasion.
