The band started in early 2015 as a 3 piece cover band consisting of Mike Scott, Steve Scott and Brandon Dillabough. However, performing covers was something they had all been doing for years and quickly grew tired of. An interest was expressed in writing original material, and with the addition of close friend, Johnny Vanderspek the band shifted gears, the lineup was complete and The Bartops were formed. After a few weeks of collaborative song writing, they quickly found themselves en route to record a six song pop punk EP. During the rehearsals leading up to the recording of the EP, the band became more comfortable singing together and realized they had four unique harmonious voices. They started adding four part vocal harmonies to the songs they had previously written and began to evolve into what their definitive sound would be when they combined their love of Green Day with an affinity for the The Beach Boys. Discovering what would become a signature sound ignited a spark in their song writing process. Shortly after they found themselves with enough songs to record a full length album, which would become “Punk Rock Barbershop”, the debut album from The Bartops. A sharp blast of catchy melodies, irresistible harmonies, and enough instantly recognizable sing-a-long choruses to satisfy any music lover.
