Phoenix Effect is a rock band from Espoo, Finland. The band was founded in 2009 by Janne Kärkkäinen, who was previously the guitarist for the award-winning pop/rock band Sunrise Avenue. After Sunrise Avenue, Janne decided to start his own band and hooked up with Marko, Olli, and Captain from Poets of the Fall to compile his old ideas and riffs into songs. Marko Saaresto has been a significant contributor to the lyrics of the songs, as well as Captain and Olli to the arrangements. Phoenix Effect has released two studio albums to date, debut album “Cyanide Skies” in 2009, followed by their self-titled second album in 2010. “Cyanide Skies” entered the Finnish charts at 22 on its release week. Some of their most popular songs include “Broken Promises,” “King See No Evil”, “Lucky Star”, and “Magic”. The lineup of Phoenix Effect includes Janne Kärkkäinen on vocals and guitar, Pyry Nikkilä on guitar, Lauri Hämäläinen on bass and backing vocals, and Anton Berg on drums. In 2022 Phoenix Effect released a new song called “The Edge Of Surrender”.
