Биография
Dave Stringer is a Grammy-nominated producer, singer and songwriter, profiled as one of the most innovative artists of the modern Yoga movement. Stringer’s sound connects the transcendent mysticism of traditional Indian Kirtan with the exuberant, groove-oriented sensibility of Gospel, the improvisational epiphanies of Jazz, and the ringing harmonies of Appalachia. He is featured in films Mantra: Sounds Into Silence and The Power of Mantra and has toured extensively, leading concerts all over the world. In Dave’s own words: “In retrospect, my involvement with Yoga isn’t surprising. The first compositional act I remember occurred at age 9, when I taped "Within You, Without You" backwards on my family's old reel to reel, cut it into pieces of random length, and spliced it back together in a different order. Later, I plotted sonic art installations in public spaces, studied jazz, sang in choirs and created experimental films. I didn't seek the path of Yoga, it found me. For many years, in my own music, I sang in a mantra-like invented language that evoked a state that words couldn't convey. I was using my voice as a tool to open my heart and gain freedom from my mind, but I didn't know it until an ashram in India hired me to edit some videos. I thought the only thing I was looking for was a paycheck in an exotic setting, but the Sanskrit mantras had a powerful effect, like they had been in me all along. The experience forever shifted the focus and sound of my music.”
