Биография
Born and raised in Damascus Syria, I was one of the lucky few to have been introduced to Rock and Metal Music in the late 80's where everything was inaccessible back home, way before everybody had internet! Since then, and like musicians and fans alike, I had the dream of putting together a ROCK BAND! It all started with small groups of friends covering their favorite songs in the early 90's, then to a more stable cover band performing in Syria between 1996 and 2001, and it wasn't until 2002 when I wrote my first song, a Rock song with Arabic lyrics! then a couple more songs, then the rush of performing those at every possible venue from big theaters to small coffee shops across the town. In 2006, I had my first album "Mahjour" released, the second album "Shi Yom" followed in 2011, a year that marked the beginning of a ten years - still ongoing - war/crisis in my country! with my latest releases coming out in 2020 and 2021 in the form of "singles", during an era when the world as we know it is changing! The English name of the band "Anas & Friends" was thought of to give credit to all the friends and artists who supported me throughout this journey, through performing, recording, or simply cheering me on to continue doing what is a near impossible thing: To succeed as an artist in Syria, making music that is different to the local scenes, yet conveys thoughts and emotions of youth that are underrepresented and under expressed in an overwhelming "pop culture"!
