There is a fine balance between roots and wings... Brian and Katie Ernst are a full time music/non profit duo, originally from Ohio (USA). In the last 11 years they have played over 1500 shows in 49 states and 35 countries. Together (with their fan base) they have raised over $120,000 for various causes, mostly their 501c3 non profit organization, Journey4YOUth. Independently selling 20,000 albums and/or touring around the world isn’t what they consider to be success. It’s not about the “what” they do, it’s about “why” they do it. Brian and Katie volunteered in New Orleans (post Katrina) and have spent nearly a year of their lives in Africa. They dedicated the efforts of Journey4YOUth towards providing over 100 education sponsorship's to students in the village they lived in Kenya. They also provide rain water harvesting and education/empowerment workshops for men, women and children on Kaswanga Village. Their fan base has also sent them out twice to volunteer at Moria Refugee Camp (Greece) and with a small NGO in Turkey - working with refugees from Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. They also volunteered at Standing Rock. These experiences/relationships are part of what they do. The time is now to use your voice and explore that which is greater than ourselves. If two artist/activists can spend a decade living out of their suitcases, playing music and seeing a grassroots movement educate and empowerment thousands - what else is possible?
