Биография
"Martina Topley Bird is British music royalty, with her contributions to Tricky’s early records alone ensuring her crown. 'Forever I Wait' maintains her majesty." (Hotpress) The new solo album from the voice of Tricky's Maxinquaye and featured vocalist of Gorillaz and Prodigy, has been heralded as "an utterly enthralling record" (Hotpress), "arguably her best solo record" (The Arts Desk) . Forever I Wait is an emotional journey from the insecurity and desire of Pure Heart (co-produced by Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack) that twists through the predatory taunts of Hunt and comes to rest in the serene acceptance of Rain. These are "adventures in soul, torch song, electronica dub" (Mojo) that captivate the listener with "singing that pins you to your seat" (Sunday Times). In the long gap between albums Topley Bird has remained a magnetic and enduring presence with "Sandpaper Kisses" from the Mercury nominated Quixotic inspiring interpolations by The Weeknd (The Birds Part 2) and Steven Marley (You're Gonna Leave). 2012 brought an indelible appearance on Clark's Iradelphic and in 2013 when asked to cover The XX's Crystalised MTB slowed it down to a warm disco groove and invited her old friend Mark Lanegan and new friends Warpaint to shine in the new light. Forever I Wait is preceded by 2010's Some Place Simple - Damon Albarn's idea - and 2008's The Blue God, produced by Dangermouse (Gorillaz' Demon Days)
