Flippants' blend of post-punk revival, noisy no-wave, and cheeky, class-conscious lyrics carried by simple, catchy melodies combine to form what the band has come to call "party punk". Flippants' first full-length release Desinvolte is an exploratory work that, although rooted in punk, touches on many of its associated genres. As for the band's live performances, the band is at home in the space of "loud, heavy, and wild" whilst always keeping it fun and removing the barrier between the stage and the audience whenever possible. Tossing instruments into the crowd, pulling the audience onstage, and performing acrobatic stunts, Flippants in a live setting feels more like a house party with a soundtrack than a rock show. The Columbia-based band was formed in 2020 by frontman Austin Syms (Club Bardo) and guitarist Gabe Crawford (Fratmouth, GAMINE, cel.cs, The Long Con). Flippants' current lineup includes local Columbia artist Pierce Koichi, drummer Matty Goia (Parole Model), and bassist Sarah Trowbridge. Since its formation, the band has stayed active playing gigs and constantly writing and recording new material.
