Based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the aptly named Horrendous employ a lethal mix of uncompromising grindcore and black, doom, math, and progressive death metal. Founded in 2009 by guitarist/vocalist Damian Herring, drummer Jamie Knox, guitarist/vocalist Matt Knox, and bassist Alex Kulick, the quartet's shared love for classic old-school death metal yielded the Sweet Blasphemies demo, which helped land the group a record deal with Dark Descent. The band's debut studio album, Chills, arrived in 2012, followed by Ecdysis in 2014 and Anareta in 2015, the latter of which found its way onto a host of critics' year-end lists.
