Auckland-based band Head Lock Grave began playing together in 2019. From rattling windows in the otherwise quiet confines of a north shore villa, to scorching performances in pubs, bars, warehouses, and house parties across Auckland and Hamilton, Head Lock Grave has found power in their collective and has emerged as one of the most exciting live acts on the scene today.  
 They’re often dubbed a ‘metal band’, but their sound has evolved into something even more, They have distilled into a signature sound that boasts infectious grooves, muscular hooks, and sophisticated arrangements. Their sound is heavy yet melodic, happily moving in and out of thrash idioms and always packing the energy. And as the band progresses they're taking comfort in more technical and heavier arrangements. 
 Their most recent recordings capture the raw energy of their live sound. Produced and engineered by veteran musician Dave Rhodes, Dead Man (released in October 2022) and Take Control (November 2022), showcase a band truly on the rise and provide more insight into the bands evolving style. 
 Catching them live is a feast for the senses, as their dedicated and growing fanbase can attest. Just when you think they’ve hit a plateau, they kick it up another gear.
