Matilde Cid stands out from the crowd by the way she sings: a strong, charismatic woman, with an immense joy when she’s on stage. Growing up in a family of musicians, in Estremoz, Alentejo, Matilde Cid soon realizes that Fado that has always been present in her life, has become her favourite musical genre. Coming to Lisbon, Matilde Cid has already been present in fado festivals such as Fado Caixa Alfama and Caixa Ribeira (2014, 2015, 2016). In 2016 she performs on her own concert for the first time, and in 2017 is part of the Fado’s for Saint Anthony event. Matilde Cid’s voice, sweet and melodic, sings this typical Lisbon’s song in a very particular way, as a result of all the influences she has gained throughout her life. In these last 10 years, Matilde Cid’s singing has been walking a consistent path of maturity. In her short journey she already had the opportunity of sharing the stage with great Fado singers and musicians. One of her greatest challenges was featuring on the musical “Once in Fado”, in London, that received excellent reviews. Her first album – “Puro” (“Pure”) labeled by Museu do Fado – was released last Septembre 2019. “Puro”, was nominated for “Best Fado Record” in the 2020 edition of the PLAY – Portuguese Music Awards
