Биография
Alton moved to Los Angeles to work with Motown Records producer Clay McMurray. He finally embarked on a solo career in 1981 after moving to England. After securing a contract with CBS Records’ subsidiary Streetwave, he recorded a number of songs that he had written over preceding years. One of these, ‘I Just Wanna (Spend Some Time With You)’, became a UK Top 20 hit at the beginning of 1982. However, follow-up efforts such as ‘Take Me’ did not repeat its success. Alton's humanitarian inkling was to write and perform a song to say thank you to the western world for all the help they gave mostly to Africa. "We Are The World" & "Do They Know It's Christmas" were great efforts to help starving people across the world, so Alton's song "Thank You From Africa" would be an acknowledgement for the gratitude that was shown. He decided to work with the RED CROSS and had a number of countries feature on the song, with lyrics in English, Swahili, Shona, and Zulu amongst others. The song is on YouTube and is continually played on African TV programs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWY_LK8g2xY Alton Edwards still performs in the UK and continues to write and produce music. His son Zikale is an up and coming performer and producer.
