Биография
EDSON was formed by Pelle Carlberg in the summer of 1998, and he named the band after the great soccer player Edson Arantes do Nascimento, i.e. Pelé. The first six months the piano took a prominent part in the sound, giving the songs a tangible jazz-pop flavor. Initially, the band was Pelle’s solo project, but after a while developed into a more democratic unity, with Pelle as the songwriter and lead singer. There have been three main incarnations of EDSON. The first one had an old friend of Pelle's from Uppsala, Lars-Magnus Ejdeholm, on upright bass, a brilliant jazz pianist called Mattias, and a drummer that would make the guy from Smashing Pumpkins seem untight. The second lineup was the one that lasted the longest and also became the most formative. Spending hours, days, and months in the practice room, while Carlberg wrote many of his best songs ever, made the group a live act almost too good to be all indie. Mårten Josjö on electric guitar and multi-instrumentalist Helena Söderman (flute, glockenspiel, melodica, and Wurlizter) remained from the first lineup and Ulf Lundberg (drums) and Mats Deltin (bass) joined, and soon after that the final piece of the puzzle, Filip Carvell, tagged along and finalized the sound with his perfect harmonies, driving force and guitar. The third incarnation had Henrik "Kisa" Nilsson on bass and his vivid younger brother Torbjörn behind the drumkit. The sudden quintet recorded the forgotten last album "Every Day, Every Second".
