In 2020, Asuquomo was nominated and won the Emerging Artist Award by Ottawa Arts council and RBC, two months later, Asuquomo released a Debut EP titled "DIOBU". Asuquomo is recognized as a multi-award winning creative individual and an International Songwriter. His debut EP, Diobu has been gathering momentum as a new emerging act on the Canadian Music Scene. ;opening for acts like Wizkid, Burna Boy and Falzthebahdguy, Jazz Cartier, Lido Pimienta, Shay Lia, Cadence Weapon, Kimmortal, BROCKHAMPTON, Kodie Shane, Violent Ground, Flara K, Shay Lia and Zaki Ibrahim. He has also performed various music festivals, namely CityFolk’s Marvest, Arboretum Festival and three times at the Ottawa Bluesfest, Canadian Music Week in Toronto, with Blue Crane Agency, Long Winter Toronto/Paris and Afrofest Ottawa, as well as Selling out his first set played in Montreal, Quebec - at Pop Montreal’s 20th year anniversary festival in 2021. Now working in partnership with Independent Record Label; Secretly Canadian, through Secretly Publishing and an Indie focused Distributor AWAL, Asuquomo’s sound is evolving as a result of left-of-center afrofusion releases, which once set on stage and in front of an audience, becomes an intense and renewed energy of Afro-punk. American Songwriter Magazine’s ‘Five to Discover: Acts You Need to Know’ described his work as “..piercing, aggressive and personal, intriguing and entrancing”.
