U.P.A. is a artpop band from Stockholm, Sweden. U.P.A. is made up of Jone Källsäter and Peter Bohman, both with a broad musical background. In the 80ties Peter made pop music in Neopop and in the early 90ties rock in Mouth. As a session musician he has provided bass too many artists in many genres, such as Erika Jonsson on her first album and tours. In his early teens Jone played woodwind instruments in a youth jazz big band as well as in a symphony orchestra, but fell in love with the guitar and rock music. One of Jone's first gigs as a guitarist was behind the poet Bob Hansson before he rose to fame. Later he played with Fuck My Car who shared a rehearsal space with Dissection and where occasionally jamming with them in an eclectic mixture of post-punk pop and death metal. U.P.A. has further developed that eclectic approach. Sometimes taking a outspoken political position, like in Jimmie H, which prompted legendary songwriter Mikael Wiehe to say U.P.A. sounded like Neil Young and swedish rock icon Johan Johansson to say Joe Hill would be in the band, had he lived today. But In Fredmans Epistel N:o 2 on the other hand U.P.A. interprets the 18th century Swedish poet Carl Michael Bellman into electro-dance. In the beginning all songs was in swedish, but since 2021 U.P.A. has released a string of songs with english lyrics such as Never Adapt. In mars 2023 U.P.A. released ” Hoppets kapell / Chapel of Light a song with both a swedish and a english version.
