The Jones Thing play music with interesting arrangements and structures, which most people find memorable, witty, sad, happy, mean, and, of course, movie-like. Over five years they created three wonderful albums and played a handful of live shows. Then there was a long long long long period of inactivity. Finally in the fall of 2019, Jeff thought it might be therapeutic and fun to just write songs again. He pulled out all of his old gear and just started creating simple loops. After a few months he had hundreds of snippets and picked out several to flesh out. In Summer 2020, the new album will be released! I hadn’t done any writing or playing in over a decade, but rustily started back up last fall and wrote a bunch of stuff. New Years Eve 2019 said that’s enough loops and demos, let’s pick 14 or so, explode, enhance, refine and release them.
