Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Tylan found his first true love at the tender age of six years old, discovering his passion for music and has never looked back. Developing a knack for music through performance, for seven summers he attended an acting camp named TCTW, where with music and dancing classes combined with his love for his musical idol Usher, he soon became a triple threat. Tylan often says, “D.C. raised me, but Atlanta saved me” - his career started there at the age of 15. Music has always surrounded him. His great-grandmother, Mary Jefferson, is known as the First Lady of Blues in Washington, D.C. Tylan’s great-grandfather Mark Hill was also a musically gifted drummer. The talent was passed down through generations as his grandparents were both in musical groups, and his mother was also a singer. It seemed like the music was a gift embedded in his veins, but everything made sense during the Summer of 2018. While recording a book soundtrack, she had the production team work with Tylan on a song, and ever since he’s been on his artistic journey. Cooking up intentionally, Tylan is bringing soul and vulnerability into a new era of R&B. On his inspiration, Tylan says, “I tell the truth about what’s going on in my life and convey that through the music. So my inspiration comes from whatever I’m going through at the moment in time.” Tylan is bringing an experience, in an era of selling a façade, he is bringing transparency, emotion, and longevity.
