Биография

The Norwegian band Halden Electric exist on the border, both musically and geographically. The name is taken from an old matchstick factory that used to operate in the town Halden, on the border to Sweden. The musical influences in the town has been for a great deal American, which is also the musical mainframe for Halden Electric. The band has been at the forefront of the Americana movement in Norway, and influences such as Neil Young, Son Volt and Wilco are evident, but also those of British bands such as The Waterboys, Richard Thompson and The The. Their debut album, Grace Under Pressure, was released in 2008 and the 2021 album The Ways of the World is their fifth, although the 2013 album Women was a double outing. At the core of the band's creativity is the songwriting of Anders Svendsen, and has shamelessly been described as solid as Townes Van Zandt and Warren Zevon and as prolific as Neil Young. The lyrical landscape never shies away from neither the emotional, painfull and candid or the humorous and dry. Or the political protest. But at the heart of everything they do is a need to create music with a soul, lyrics with a passion and mix the two with intuition and a search for the truth. Indicating that they will be going on for a long time still.
