Girlhood first came to prominence on their debut album as a UK, London-based, genre-bending R&B duo. Shortly after, they expanded to bring in a multitude of collaborators to further flourish the sonic palette. From songwriters to orchestral composers, the original lineup has now ballooned to every friend and musician the founder, Christian, has met over his career to date. Deeply inspired by the ‘cut and paste’ work of The Avalanches, Afro-beat jazz-fusions of Pharaoh Saunders, pop-centric grounding of Labi Siffre, sample-bending skills of Moby and the feeling of hunting through old records to find that perfect, soul-warming sonic adventure.
