With two voices, an electric guitar as well as electronic and percussive sound elements, the three musicians create a mood that draws the listener in. COUCOU have been constantly evolving their sound over the last ten years. The result is wonderfully melancholic, unobtrusive pop music that allows for rough edges and likes to move off the beaten track. The sound is unagitated and makes the music relatable: celebrated slowness, a little journey into the inner self. COUCOU is slow-motion cinema in the midst of restless modernity. In 2012, they published a small edition of a record that they produced themselves and in 2016 their debut album "Paperskin" was finally released on "Kick the Flame". Since then, numerous concerts and performances have taken them throughout Germany, Italy and Switzerland. In the fall of 2019 they retired to the studio again and recorded a new EP, which will be released still in 2020. Producer legend Olaf Opal captured the special sound of the three women from Leipzig and Berlin surprisingly unfiltered: COUCOU sound independent and uncompromising, full of powerful-voiced, tender melancholy.
