ROBIN BLOCK is a poet and musician from Amsterdam. He writes dreamy Indiepop with a folky edge. His music is both intimate and lavishy arranged, melancholic yet full of solace. Some songs in English, others in Dutch or Indonesian. Tracing his family roots, Block frequently travels back and forth between the Netherlands and Indonesia. It is through music that he connects different hearts and worlds. Currently, Block is working on a new EP which will be released in May 2023. WOLKEN is a Dutch music project by Block and electro-pop artist Rita Zipora. Their lush mix of male and female vocals, catchy hooks and wandering synths has harvested critical acclaim in both the Netherlands and Belgium. Songs like Vaart and Zo Zeg Je Geen Gedag have haunted the radio stations for months. The 2018 EP "LAGU RINDU" honours Block's family roots in Indonesia. His grandparents' stories about their motherland, both happy and sad, have always sparked a keen interest in the shared history of Indonesia and the Netherlands. That's why the EP features both a goodbye song (Kau Pergi) and a reunion song (Aku Kan Pulang). For his debut album COMFORT ZONES Block withdrew for months to record. Many of the sound effects and scapes were recorded in and around the house; water boilers, wine glasses, brooms, doors, even the occasional birds have found their proper place on this album. A week after the recordings a short circuit destroyed a large part of the house. Luckily, the recordings survived.
