The Heathen Choir is an alternative rock band led by songwriter/producer Darren Doherty. Formed in Strabane, Northern Ireland in 2017 after returning to his hometown of Strabane Doherty has independently released a full debut (What You Do - 2017) numerous standalone singles and an emotional juggernaut of a live album of all new material (Live at The Ghostlight Sessions - 2020.) Hard hitting topics like alcoholism and social issues sit alongside unabashed love songs all threaded together in his Northern Irish accent with stark honesty and melodies that get inside and never leave. Compared to other confessional songwriters like Alanis Morissette, Frightened Rabbit & Counting Crows, The Heathen Choír is not for the faint hearted but more so ‘the bleeding hearts and the artists’ New single ‘The Raging Song’ has received unanimous praise and support from radio in Ireland all the way to North America and signals the next chapter in The Heathen Choir story. Sonic comparisons to fellow celts Biffy Clyro aren’t wide of the mark and a similar sized impact looks right up the road for Doherty and Co.
