Aston Merrygold’s time with JLS proved to be one of UK pop’s biggest success stories this century, as they achieved five UK #1 smashes, a further five Top 10 singles, five hit albums, selling over 10 million copies, as well as receiving two Brit Awards & five MOBO awards. Aston has remained in the spotlight ever since the group went on hiatus, building a social media following of over a million people. His high profile projects include competing on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, starring in the West End production of ‘Rip It Up’ and judging the talent show ‘Got To Dance’. Now Aston is set to reignite his solo career as he shares his new single ‘Overboard’. It adds to a growing solo discography which includes over 14 million streams for ‘Get Stupid’, plus collaborations with Shy Carter and LDN Noise. ‘Overboard’ provides a fresh flavour of Aston’s multifaceted talents. Within a track that blends throwback R&B, powerfully direct pop and a taste of underground UK hip-hop, his vocal remains his most potent trait. ‘Overboard’ was written by Aston alongside Andrei Mihai, Lil Eddie and Alvin Anthony, and it was produced by SHOEBA. ‘Overboard’ kicks off a hectic year for Aston. The hugely anticipated JLS reunion tour will be their first since 2013. The tour comprises 28 arena shows across the UK and Ireland. There’s also much more to come from his solo career, plus a new series of the CBBC drama ‘Almost Never’ in which he stars as the manager of the boyband The Wonderland.
