It’s no small feat to emerge from the shadow of Queen where larger than life melodies, arrangements, and musicianship set a gold standard in rock music that will live on for decades, but maybe it’s some of that boldness that rubbed off on Tyler Warren (current touring percussionist of Queen + Adam Lambert) and musical partner, Rachel Brandsness as they set off to create music in an unreserved manner neither of them had yet experienced. Flarelight was formed in 2016 by core members Tyler Warren & Rachel Brandsness, who came together after brief collisions with Rachel’s previous band, Fools For Rowan (as well as recording Rachel’s first solo album.) From the beginning, their main goal was to write emotional, uninhibited songs together, without a net. Nothing was off limits; no concept, no sonic texture. All that mattered was the music, the bond they share through it, and that every note, every word, and every sound, come from them alone. As a self-contained duo, Tyler and Rachel not only act as the writers, arrangers, and multi-instrumentalists behind Flarelight, but also co-produce and engineer their recordings together.
